Debian + Shoes

Debian + Shoes

From:

So I did some poking around today, and found this:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=683393

Is anyone interested in taking over the package? We should at least
put a working Shoes 3 up, and providing a 'native' package would solve
our distribution questions on Linux too, I think. Of course, we'd need
more than just debian, but...

I just built Shoes 3 successfully on my debian system, so I know that
part works, but if some intrepid shoes-er would like to step up and
figure out how packaging works, that'd be quite helpful!

I've tried the shoes + debian packaging dance, I gave up after a few
weekends without much progress.

I don't remember how long ago it was but the package that debian had
worked. Then I was told that I should try to get the latest source and
build it myself. Can't remember how that went but I'm sure it was
disappointing for me anyway. So let them wait. They are so bureaucratic
about it. Take your time.

I'd just joined the mailing list to ask that question.
The bug for ubuntu is at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/shoes/+bug/359031
And the bug for debian is at
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=566674
they still ship it, it's just super outdated

P.S. I mean don't waist a beautiful summer weekend if you can help it.

Yes, your experience is exactly why I want to update the package.
