ramp up a newb on shoes contributing?

Hey all,

I'm a newb when it comes to Shoes, but I'm a fairly proficient Rubyist. I
love Hackety and want to see it's next incarnation -- so I want to be
involved with Shoes. I'd really love to pair with someone on Shoes if
possible. We pair all the time at work and I've done extensive remote
pairing so we should be able to get cooking pretty quickly. Any takers?

Thanks!

Johnny

Absolutely. I had a great remote pairing session on Shoes 4 a couple of
weeks ago. We added a missing feature and cleaned up some messes. It's a
good way to ramp up and get familiar with the codebase--a guided tour sort
of ;)

Thanks for the responses y'all. I'm ready to ramp up. Sounds like maybe I
should hit IRC next time though.

Just don't give up if we don't answer you back right away on irc! I can't
count the number of times that I was just about to answer someone's
question on irc, only to find that they've disconnected.

HI Johnny,

I will speak for the Shoes team that your request has been heard! We'd
love to take you onto our team!
One or the other of us may be able to arrange a pairing session with you.
In the meantime, read some code on shoes4 https://github.com/shoes/shoes4,
have a look at the issues list,
and take a look at the backend code for HackeyHack. We're just beginning
an effort to revamp Hackety to operate on shoes4,
so you sound like a great fit by way of interests!

Welcome aboard!

Hi there,

yeah your request has definitely been heard and is well appreciated :-)
There's lots of work to do on shoes4.
I actually wanted to start something like "shoes monday", where I work
on shoes all day and help people getting started. However right now I'm
swamped with work...
I hope that I'll have more time in may, right now I gotta prepare some
courses.

I love pairing have never done remote pairing though :o

I'm PragTob on IRC so ping me when you see me. :-)

Cheers,
Tobi

Hey Johhny, I've been poking around Green Shoes trying to get myself
re-acquainted as well, and would happy to pair sometime.

Cool! :-D

It'd be nice to know what documentation you were missing and how we
could make your start smoother and better.
