Participate in Rails Girls summer of code?

Participate in Rails Girls summer of code?

Hi everyone,

this is just semi-official but is going to go public soon.
The idea of a Rails Girls summer of code was envisioned here in Berlin
at a meeting of local organizers and coaches (me included :-) ). The
idea has since gone quite far and is about to go public. The slogan is
"helps RailsGirls students to get into open source software projects".
So it's like google summer of code... just for beginners and with more
learning involved :-)
You can have a quick look at the work in progress page here:
http://railsgirlsberlin.github.io/summer-of-code/faq.html

So of course we are looking for projects to participate. I thought about
Shoes/Hacketyhack and now Sven (Fuchs) also asked me. So what do you think?

Personally I believe that shoes4 actually might be a bit hard since it
is really different from building websites to implement things in shoes.
With good mentoring/coaching it might be possible for people who are up
to the challenge though :-)

I see more possibilities with the hackety.com website, there is still a
lot that can be done there and a lot that can be learned.

I added initial ideas to the project ideas wiki on github:
https://github.com/RailsGirlsBerlin/summer-of-code/wiki/Project-ideas

As this will be a first time event, the details aren't yet quite fleshed
out :-)

Cheers and have a good week y'all :-)
Tobi

Hey Tobi!

I think that you're right. We still need some work on the Shoes.rb
website (there's still a lot of stuff missing), so that might also be
good project to work on.
