Hi, I'm interested in contributing to Shoes, and I'd like to know where to
start and what needs to be done.

Cool, we can use help. The first step would be to download the latest
shoes from git and compile it for your platform and run some of the
samples. After that it depends on what interests you have and your
background. Are you a C coder? GTK/OSX/Windows?

Fantastic! Welcome, Micah. :)

Debugging code (C/Ruby), writing documents, testing on some platforms,
discussing ideas, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Let's enjoy developing
Shoes!

So, what platform are you using? Do you have your github repo? :)

Sorry for being so long in replying.

I know C pretty well, but I don't really know any specific platforms. I can
read and write Ruby code, but I don't claim to be an expert on the language.

My primary platform is Mac OS X Leopard, but I also have access to Windows
XP.

I was not able to compile the latest Shoes. After installing all (I think)
the dependencies, then it complained that I did not have a 64-bit computer.
So I edited the Rakefile to take out all the "-arch x86_64"s, but then it
gave me a huge load of error messages, most of them syntax errors. I'll
report it on the Github project.

That's great! I can build for Snow Leopard, but I don't have a Leopard
computer around... so that's great.

Cool, please do! We'll work it out. It shouldn't be that bad...

If anyone is interested, meet me on #shoes so we can solve the problem of
Shoes not building on OSX Leopard.
