Shoes + Hackety Hack bug (Win 7 x64)

Shoes + Hackety Hack bug (Win 7 x64)

So, I was running the Hackety Hack .shy ( http://hacketyhack.heroku.com/ )
and the program displays for a brief second and then I get a "This
application has requested the the Runtime to terminate it in an unexpected
way" error and Shoes crashes.

I'm running Win7 x64, and I also get the error when I run it in XP
compatibility mode.

So I found this article

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/884538#appliesto

As the article noted, I have v7.0.x of Msvcrt.dll which is causing this
crash. This is unfortunately the latest version that comes bundled with
Win7, so I don't think I can roll it back to a v6. However, I have all
hotfixes/updates installed, so I'm not sure why this is persisting.

Thanks,
Varun

It appears this is an old MSFT issue from 2004/2007. Any fix would have
been part of Vista/Win7, I would hope.

It does hint that it could be a compiler version mismatch between what
Shoes was produced with and what exits in the 'wild'.

I'm not qualified to help with Windows, YMMV. I can only guess that
Win7/64 doesn't like Shoes/32bit and XP mode is imperfect in Win7. Not a
lot of help for you.

Yeah, this is a bug that Wilkie and I weren't able to reproduce on his
Windows machine... but I've seen on many others. I also can't help with
Windows, but it's good to have some progress made...
