Shoes Hackfest

Hello fellow shoesers,

Now is a great time, there's all kinds of great progress being made to
shoes. We've got a jruby shoes, a gtk shoes, a qt shoes; we've got shoes in
just about every color, and with winter fast approaching we've got to work
on this seasons fashionable shoes, the (white) shoe.

The white shoe, or colorless shoe, I'm referring to is the top-level shoes
api abstraction that will be used as a guide and inherited from all the
colorful versions of shoes. Ash has shown us that he can easily port over
his green_shoes code to blue_shoes (http://github.com/ashbb/blue_shoes/),
which I think is very very cool btw.

So anyways, I'd love to organize a meetup wherein we discuss this and all
the other progress being made on shoes. Perhaps make it a weekend long event
where we can make some definite progress on shoes.

I suggest we meet up in either Pittsburg or Boston, and here's why:

  * Both Steve (blue) and Scott (brown/chocolate) are located in Pittsburg
  * It would cost me (vermont) roughly ~230 USD to get down the PA, which is
fine. Or ~100 USD for me to fly to Boston
  * PA and MA are both centrally located for anyone on the East Coast

The rest of the team would be able to participate via #shoes on IRC
ofcourse, we may even consider a live broadcast of the event.

Ideally the event would take place either this month or the next and would
be a 2-3 day extravaganza full of great progress!

Let me know what everyone thinks about this, and I haven't set any sort of
date yet so please be open about your availability and interest. As well as
any ideas you have for the event.

Thanks!

I think this idea would be fun, even if you misspelled Pittsburgh :-p

If we did it in Pittsburgh, I could easily let 2-3 people crash on my
couch, and I also have the perfect venue for us to do it in.

I probably don't have the money to fly anywhere else, though I'd
certainly participate through IRC...

A few of us are always in #shoes on freenode, if you'd like to get on
IRC even before a hackfest.

And I always use http://gist.github.com/ for sharing snippets of code.
