Various Shoes internet identities

Various Shoes internet identities

Hey everyone-

Yesterday, I was sitting around, and a thought popped into my head: we
still don't have a real domain for Shoes. So I spent $10, and
registered shoesrb.com This is in line with a bunch of other Ruby
libraries, and was open, so I took it. This gives us a slightly more
'professional' look than the current site... Devyn passed over the
Heroku account where the website lives to me, since I have a verified
account, and I've set it up. So check it out:

http://shoesrb.com/

Also, after talking with all of the great new people we have in the
project, I've realized that a lot of our documentation and ways that
we explain ourselves to the world kind of sucks. If you read the ML
all the time, you'll be in the know, but otherwise, the project is a
bit opaque. So, I registered a tumblr account for an official Shoes
blog, and hooked it up to

http://blog.shoesrb.com/

I've just posted the first major piece, talking about the new colors of Shoes:

http://blog.shoesrb.com/post/1291140944/shoes-4-now-in-multiple-colors

I plan on writing for this on a regular basis, but if anybody else has
anything to say, let me know...

on top of all of that, while I was at it, I figured I might as well go
the whole 9 yards. So I investigated a few options for a Shoes Twitter
account, and, as we discussed before, there are no good ones
available. The best I could find was @shoooesrb, so I grabbed it up.
I've petitioned Twitter to give us access to either @shoesrb or
@shoes, as both are pretty inactive. We'll see what they say.

If anyone has any thoughts, comments, or wants to help out, I'd love
to hear from you. @shoooesrb will be following all of you shortly.

This is probably a good time to remind everyone that if they want an account
for the CMS on the website (we're using Redmine) they just need to ask.

Steve—you have access to the code, but no Redmine account, so I'll get that
set up for you.

Anyway, I like where this is headed, and thanks, Steve, for donating so much
to the cause :)

It's just http://shoesrb.com/admin/

Right, I forgot to go and create the accounts. Was busy; got distracted.
Will do that right now.

Oh, I forgot: I also petitioned Freenode to give us control of #shoes.
This would let us get ops on the channel, which would let us set the
topic.

Thanks Zach. And if anyone has any ideas of things that I should write
about, especially people like you and Peter who are newish, let me
know. I'd much rather thoroughly explain something there than not...

Also, the blog gives us a good place to put all of those archived
posts from the wiki...

Great work, Steve!

Also, if you're looking for a good twitter name, @rubyshoes is free -
beats trying to remember how many 'o's there are in shooooes :)

In the interest of web-presence, you all should be aware that RailsBridge is
pointing to Shoes as an active project dependency :
