Things to add to the wiki page

Dear Abhishek,
I am addressing as you are one of the volunteers, but this is for all
the volunteers who are doing the Mangalore thing.

I was looking at the wiki page but was unable to find a few things.
Listing them out :-

a. Is there an ATM nearby where we would be living? If yes, is it of
some nationalized or/and private bank that could be used ?

b. The second thing is I see that you have used google maps for
directions, not really optimum but okish I guess

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=State+bank+mangalore&daddr=Nmamit,+nitte+karkala&hl=en&sll=12.864565,74.834061&sspn=0.019329,0.042186&geocode=FU1ExAAdAuh1BCmBbjr9rFujOzGFZDx4zt-aTg%3BFVInyQAdT2Z3BCFqiUFUHfjAsw&vpsrc=0&mra=ls&t=h&z=10

This is probably not the best way, but I guess we would have to work
out something .

b1. What I do fail to see is also somebody's contact details for
person/s coming from outside the city. Invariably people do tend to
come/land up at the last moment and being not able to connect with
anybody would not be good. I do see Abhishek and Ranjan Prabhu's
numbers but they are at the very bottom of the page which instead
should be at the top of the page.

http://wiki.debian.org/DebianIndia/MiniDebConf2011/MangaloreEdition

Another suggestion I could give is have some sort of temporary SIM
bought few days just before the conference and have people's names or
something to go alongwith it and highlight it. For people who come at
the last minute/moment it should/would be very helpful.

c. The third thing is while there is lot of info. about Mangalore,
there is almost no information nor any link about Karkala. Best would
be to have a whole page dedicated about the place or if there is some
web resource already existing, then simply link to some resource which
gives a person some more idea about Karkala.

What I do remember from long back is its supposedly between a village
or/and a town but have no idea about population, area in sq.
kilometers or something as well as any interesting thing in and around
Karkala, nothing is even mentioned about the weather so people coming
from outside would be unsure whether to pack winter clothes or summer
clothes or what.

Just some things on top of my head. I do appreciate the work done
though at
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianIndia/MiniDebConf2011/MangaloreEdition/RouteMaps
. If somebody writes some stuff, this could be added/transplated also
to wikitravel.org later.

Just my 2 paise ;)

Too much. This is not 15 days DebConf.

No winter clothes needed. Check Wikipedia page.

PS: Bring your own clothes. I guess organizers are not providing it ;)

and there you go again. I do remember a saying which says ' if wishes
were horses.....'

kidding again. Although I doubt the organizers would be able to get
stuff my size on the stands even if they wanted to ;)

There are multiple and all are nationalized bank ATM's

Well OSM is not at all developed for this part of India and I think
its not the right time to develop it and use it for the conference so
we went for alternative. One more thing I don't understand why you say
Google map is not the best way. It has all things required on the map
including shops and other stuffs. If you are saying its not accurate
(I don't know how) I would say no map is accurate

2 points connecting to venue for outsiders is Mangalore and Udupi and
their contact was given in Wiki. Of course it was at end of page and
can be made to the top

Normally all these regions have same weather and now its dry weather
and kind of hot. But note that we can't guarantee weather it can
change at any point of time without prior notice ;)
