I don't understand the aversion to google groups? Does the same thing as 
a "list" but offers a great reader and stores all the messages. I am 
happy to set one up, or mind my own business.  -ski

I'm cool with whatever people want to do.

The primary benefit of this is that you own the data / can control the 
archives, rsyncing off the server or keeping it there.  And it's a dead 
simple interface.

But really, I just used this because I heard that it was the cool thing to
do and wanted to give it a try.
