I'm very excited to announce a new release of rets4r!
It's the first official release since 0.8.5 in November 2008. There are a
tremendous amount of changes since then, especially switching to Nokogiri
for XML parsing (incredibly fast), improved authentication support (works
with demo.crt.realtors.org), and innumerable changes to support more
boards and have less bugs.
Huge thanks is due to Jacob Basham, Braxton Beyer, Brian Dunn, Brian
Getting, Andrew Vit and John Wulff for awesome contributions. And even
more thanks to Scott Patterson and Francois Beausoleil for starting
rets4r.
I've already started working on changes for the next version, which will
be rets4r-1.2.0. It's going to have a few new preferred APIs for direct
access to documents and service requests. It may even have the first steps
toward abstracting different boards to the same API. But most of all, I
want it to have backwards compatibility. We're probably going to deprecate
a lot of code between now and 2.0, but a few pleasant, instructive
deprecation warnings should be the worst changes between now and then. If
you notice any regression, please let me know.
P.S. I'm sorry this has taken so long. After many hours digging through
the source of gemcutter, I finally discovered a bug that prevented my
account from pushing the official rets4r gem. I totally owe Nick Quaranto
for poking around in the live rubygems database at odd hours to get things
fixed. The rubygems folks are awesome.
