Need help testing an OpenGL app - help!

Need help testing an OpenGL app - help!

Hi all:

I could use some help testing an app that runs OpenGL, or help in helping
me debug this thing.

First, the app is based on the open-source "FreeWRL" VRML/X3D rendering
engine, http://freewrl.sf.net.

I have made an apk file, available here:

	http://freewrl.sf.net/FreeWRL-09Sep-debug-unaligned.apk

Issue - it works on my devices, but a user in Vancouver with a "Corby
MID7022" running 2.3.3 says it crashes on startup. It should load a simple
X3D file and display a rotating cube and some text.

I have tested it on 2.2 devices through to 4.1, but do not have a 2.3.3
device to test it on.

The Emulator is no help - what I can test (file access, etc) on older
versions in the emulator appears to work.

----

My "real" app, which I'm working on at home when I get time, is for a
viewer for 3D models used by 3D printer people, and by CNC machining
people; right now I'm just trying to get model viewing working reliably
across all platforms, then I get to write some fun software and put it in
the app. (go and look for "freex3d" in Google Play)

----

Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

John A. Stewart

I think my Nexus One is running 2.3.3 or maybe 2.3.4. Would that be of
use? I'll charge it up and give it a shot if I can get a chance tonight.

If you can find it, that would be of use for sure.

Thank you;

Loaded it up on my Samsung Galaxy S 2.3.5 and it works great. I can switch
between all the viewpoints.

Thanks Simon;

This is interesting in that all the devices I have, and the reports from
this group, the basic app seems to startup ok.

Just wait until I get all the "wow-factor" graphics stuff in there for the
home-cnc and home-3d printer groups. :-)

I'll do a talk one of these meeting nights, but it won't be this month, as
I'm still working on ensuring that the basic app framework works.

Simon's Anna app.

Simon;

My install of your "Anna" app got interrupted by lack of wifi service.
(the phone in question is tied to a pay as you go network in the UK and is
not on a cell network here).

It did not help me with registration for the Wolfram key, but does want
the key in the settings menu, of course.

I'll do an uninstall and a re-install today, and we'll see how it goes.

My first question will be, of course, "when is the next Ottawa Android
meeting". ;-)

Oh yeah! It's next Wednesday at the Shopify Offices.

We'll be having it in our lounge area. It's kinda tricky to find, but
when you get to the office enter the parking lot and look for the glass
doors with Unicorns on them.

Here's a link to the entrance you'll be taking (It's the green arrow).
