We're organizing a hackathon in Ottawa on August 13th that might be
interesting for people on this list. It's free, we have food and you
get to test out and learn stuff on a huge cluster!
We give you free access to a cluster with up to 500 nodes, provide
tutorials for using Mapreduce and Hadoop and hands-on support from
experts. You can of course use Ruby, for example using Mandy (http://
mandyruby.pbworks.com/w/page/1263688/FrontPage). You can read more
about our past events on hackreduce.org.
Basically it's about hacking together something cool with large
datasets and having fun. You can use any technology you want. You can
check out the datasets, sample code and example projects on github.com/
More info and registrations on www.hackreduce.org/ottawa. It's free
and our sponsors are providing the food! Yey!
If you have any questions you can email me or write on our Convore
