Reminder: Meeting next week - 20 March

Hello Everyone,

This is a reminder that our meeting is next Wednesday the 20th of March and
starts at 6:30pm. We are still looking for presentations or demos.

I was going to present Ruboto but didn't have the time or patience to get
everything working properly so instead I'll talk about mobile web app
development using jQuery, jQuery Mobile and a neat tool called livereload.

Cheers,

The 20th of April you mean?

Also, if you're interested I could possibly do a presentation on
backbone.js

I've tried working with jQuery Mobile and phonegap and I find it takes
much too long to get parsed by the browser.

Yes. Apologies, for messing up the month (again!).

It would be really neat to see backbone.js in action, looking forward to it!

As for jquery mobile, I've been doing development on 2.2 and higher devices.
It really depends on the phone (>2.2 have V8). Also the application I've
been using jquery mobile is mobile web instead of embedded.

It's still a pretty neat library, and if you are looking to add a mobile
version of one of your websites it's a pretty good option.

Awesome! How long of a presentation would you like?

I've been running it on a 2.1, so that might explain it. I found that
zepto.js is a pretty decent replacement if you don't need the navigation
stuff.

I totally agree! I don't really think its near production ready yet
though.

Yeah, I'd like to see a presentation on backbone.js as well.

I was at iPhone Dev Con last week and I saw a good presentation on
Mobile Web Toolkits by James Pearce of Sencha. He compared the
declarative jQuery Mobile and jQTouch to the programatic Sencha
toolkits. It was a pretty good talk and not biased at all towards
Sencha.

I'm actually one of the main PhoneGap Android contributors so if you
ever have any questions just send them over my way.
