========

Dear assembly,

we want you to notice that final planning has already started and the
deadline, the 9th of December, 23:59h is approaching soon. So please
fill in all information into your wiki page that is important for us to
consider when assigning assembly space.

If you know other people who want to make an assembly, please tell them
to register before that date. There will most probably be no space for
those who register too late.

Regards, your 31C3 assembly team

I added my bullet points on possible activities at the "detailed
description" area in the wiki:
https://events.ccc.de/congress/2014/wiki/Assembly:Offline_Networks .
Please feel free to add/edit ...

I start to like offline networks as an encompassing term and have
started using it in twitter (#offline_networks) and
if you agree we could start a wikipedia page. Btw, I searched for
"offline networks" and got a "did you mean 'of life
networks'?" and I thought "yes" :-)

Speaking of.. I registered for my ticket, but would love to add a few
things to the Offline Networks Assembly description. Is it too late to do
that? I’d like to do a subnodes workshop if possible. I will be bringing
lots of Raspberry Pis as well.

Great! It would be nice if all add your names in the "Members" area at
the wiki page!

And I guess we could update the description of the assembly until the
last moment. The deadline
related to the allocation of space to the different assemblies (I think).

I had yesterday an idea for application: a combination of
http://stupidforum.com and wifi tagging
(if I understood correctly a single router can activate for different
SSIDs?). We could have a
captive portal with editable text fields (as many as the possible SSIDs)
and upon an update of
each text field the corresponding SSID would change dynamically,
enabling this way a live wifi
tagging chat :-).

Also, Aram suggested that I get some URLs and twitter accounts. So, I
have now the
http://offline-networks.net and http://oflife-networks.net! And the
twitter account
@oflife_networks (with name "offline networks").

We could think how to play with these in Hamburg. I was thinking that it
would
be cool if each of us have one "offline network" domain and create
"bendy" mirrors
between them :-) (as you may have noticed I don't like the idea of
centralization,
in general, but especially in this case. I think that offline networks
are meant to be,
and can succeed only, if they are "different", appropriated by local
people. When
I find some time I will elaborate more on the "manifesto" document :-)

I am one of the editors of this very relevant call for papers at the
journal of
peer production (which is a very cool and alternative journal):
http://peerproduction.net/alternative-internets/
(as you will see the term "offline networks" appears in the text :-))

Notice that we will publish (as an appendix) more or less artistic
1-pagers on stories from the past, future imaginaries, etc. (they could

We are looking forward to your contributions! :-)

Deadline for abstracts is February 8th and for full papers and 1-pages
