Change project to py2llvm

Change project to py2llvm

Hey everyone,

I would like to propose re-naming the numba project to py2llvm. There is
a project named py2llvm on code.google.com, but I've been in touch with
the author of that project and he is fine if we take the name. I've
created a new github project called py2llvm.

Continuum will continue to use the numba name.

Thoughts?

Hm, I'm not sure how that works with promoting numba, which is getting
better-known. I've also never really liked 'x2y' names, but since the
name is already taken I'd say you'd want to make numba known through
the name. If you're using open source version py2llvm, for which there
are two projects, it will be harder to find numba from there. If the
point is differentiating, why not go for a numba/numba pro?

That's good feedback. I'm trying to figure out why Siu did not see the
Numba project :-) And also how to raise visibility. Changing names
around can be a very bad idea, you are right.

It seems Unladen Swallow and PyPy overshadowed Numba in the google
search. That's probably why I can't find Numba. I also like the
numba/numba pro better.
