Unable (waiting for...) to connect to locally hosted site

This is my first time using a mailing list, I may be doing this wrong.

Following http://nestacms.com/'s /Getting Started/ to launch a test site
did not work completely
with my Arch Linux x86_64 3.19.2-1 installation. I installed nesta and
bundler and followed the rest of the guide.
When reaching the last step Ruby complained that I missed various gems.
One of these were mr-sparkle,
so I gem install <gem>'d them all.

Running `mr-sparkle config.ru` in ~/mysite.com launches mr-sparkle with
workers, maintainers etc.
(it looks like it's working) but I get nothing when connecting to
localhost:8080. I'm only getting
"Waiting for localhost..." and no errors/warnings show up in mr-sparkle.

In difference (and if the info helps) to nesta, XAMPP works flawlessly.

Hi. Sorry to hear it's not just worked.

Could you run `mr-sparkle` again and just check that it produces output like this:

    $ mr-sparkle
    I, [2015-03-26T16:36:26.224046 #58131]  INFO -- : listening on
addr=0.0.0.0:8080 fd=9
    I, [2015-03-26T16:36:26.783828 #58131]  INFO -- : master process ready
    I, [2015-03-26T16:36:26.785385 #58132]  INFO -- : worker=0 spawned pid=58132
    I, [2015-03-26T16:36:26.785904 #58132]  INFO -- : Refreshing Gem list
    I, [2015-03-26T16:36:27.228241 #58132]  INFO -- : worker=0 ready
    I, [2015-03-26T16:39:26.647538 #58131]  INFO -- : SIGWINCH ignored
because we're not daemonized

Then open another terminal (leaving mr-sparkle running) and try this:

  telnet localhost 8080

Could you send us the output of that command? I get this, for example:

    $ telnet localhost 8080
    Trying ::1...
    telnet: connect to address ::1: Connection refused
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    Connected to localhost.
    Escape character is '^]'.

Note the "Connected..." line.

If you do manage to make a connection with telnet, typing "GET / HTTP/1.0"
and pressing enter twice should load a web page. It'd be good to know what
appears at that point too...

Cheers,
Graham

It's possible that you were caught out by a recent update to one of
Nesta's dependencies (called Tilt), that isn't (yet) compatible with
Nesta.

Creating a new site (as outlined on the nestacms.com home page) just
failed for me when I ran the `nesta demo:content` command.

I just released Nesta 0.11.1 which will ensure that the previous version
of Tilt is installed, and I can run the instructions on the home page
successfully again. I recommend deleting your mysite.com folder, updating
Nesta (`gem install nesta` should do it), making sure you've got version
0.11.1 (run `nesta --version`). Then try the commands I included in my
last email.

Cheers,
Graham

Running `gem install nesta` fixed the issue.
Thanks for the quick answer!
