Hi, Danny,
A custom design is simply modifying the views and styles for Sinatra to
change the way Nesta looks out of the box. A theme is slightly more
packaged up so you can share with others or across your projects. It
basically means that:
For a custom design your views go in /views and your assets in /public.
For a theme, your views are in /themes/themename/views and your assets in
/themes/themename/public/themename/
Hope that helps,

design? These pages don't really make that distinction clear:

Hey Wynn.
Nice round up on the topic. Just would like to add that in contrary to
simple view modification themes also enable you to roll out customized
routes within your theme package.
Cheers,
Volker
