Hey everyone.. It's kerkness.

I guess no one really knows how best to use the mailing list so it's
been quiet since the inception.

Yeah, no one is using it which is a shame.

Have you written any Kohana modules? I have written the ORM_MPTT library.

You shall find me in the IRC room with the alias "Colonel-Rosa" and my
twitter is: http://twitter.com/PixelDeveloper

Is KO3 released yet? I mean stable release.

Please don't fill the mailing list with drivel, we already have enough of
that on the forum. Answer = Yes.

Hi all

I'm a beginner/intermediate PHP dev and very new to Kohana. Got a little
confused by 2.0 and 3.0. I like to keep up but haven't found a lot of
tutorials for beginners on Kohana 3, so thinking I'll start with 2.

Any advice on good resources?
thanks

Hey Mary, welcome to the list.

It depends on your project, Kohana 2 has stood the test of time, is well
tested, has a lot of modules and is well supported by the community. This
would be the choice if have any existing Kohana websites as the upgrade path
is easier. Kohana 3 brings new features to the table such as HMVC, improved
database library, better class structure, far better routing, log drivers,
etc ... Ryan (above) has setup a wiki dedicated to Kohana 3 and outlines a
lot of stuff which may be of interest to you. See below.

http://www.kerkness.ca/wiki/doku.php

Kohana 3 would be the choice for any *new* projects.

I've always had a hard time figuring out what a good tutorial would be
for a beginner. I think the Wiki has just about everything you need
to get going but perhaps I am mistaken. Check out the wiki (link
below) and if there are gaps or specific things that you think would
help a beginner just let me know.

Thanks Ryan, I hadn't seen that before. I'm going to work my way through
it once I finish my current project, should give me something to chew on
and hopefully a great start with Kohana, will shoot back any feedback or
questions I have. Glad this list is now getting active! :)
