Hosting for less than $10 per month.

Hosting for less than $10 per month.

Hi,

I know that this topic has been discussed earlier - but my requirement is a
bit more specific.

Does anyone know of any web hosting provider charging less than $10 - 15
per month and allowing Linode like access to the box. Basically I have
Flask, Neo4J and MongoDB as a stack and I would like to maintain that and
not retrofit it to a SQL database.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Try https://www.digitalocean.com/
They provide Linode like ssh access and are very cheap. For 5$/month you
could get 512 MB RAM, 20 GB SSD

I'm a very happy user of DigitalOcean

I have to say thank you for Digital Ocean as well. I was just getting
familiar with vps sysadmin and setting up a server with linode. Digital
Ocean has been a very similar experience so far at a fraction of the cost.

Digital Ocean isn't a PaaS or SaaS provider like heroku or google app
engine where installing applications involves knowledge of the service
provider's interface.

What DO actually is, is an IaaS provider, which means that you get shell
access to your VM, and on these machines you can install flask the way you
normally would on that OS regardless of which company is providing the
machine to you.

On any operating system with python (and pip) installed, installing flask is:

pip install flask

And you are good to go!

If you have any installation issues with flask please don't hesitate to
reply back.

I'm not sure about linode, but I believe digital ocean uses KVM as the
hypervisor and QEMU to slice CPU time which is not as powerful of a
Virtual CPU as what Amazon uses and maybe Linode. So they give you
more cpus but its not as powerful. The bandwidth is ok there. I
switched from amazon to digital ocean and there was a substantial
bandwidth difference.

I'm using KVMLA (KVM) now as primary VPS for my blog.

And Sakura VPS (from Japan, Xen) as a private lab.

I still see many Xen hosting, not sure if I should migrate to KVM entirely.

I also starting using Digital Ocean recently. I'm really liking it a lot,
and plan to replace all of my Linode and WebFaction accounts with them as
well.

I understand it might not be exactly what you are looking for, but Heroku +
Hosted Neo4J + (MongoLab | MongoHQ) would work.
