How about a group on Google Groups?

How about a group on Google Groups?

From:

I was wondering why there is no official Flask group on Google Groups, I
think it could be a helpful step in creating a bigger community and
spreading Flask around, and why not sharing problems and solutions in Flask
based development.

Also:
- The list and its archives are in one plac nowe, why split them up?
- This list works. Why change a running system? What are the advantages?
- Some people might not have Google accounts or don't want to make use
of Google or other commercial entities (more than is unavoidable).

This is a long shot, but is there a way to set up Google Groups to be just
a front-end interface to another mailing list? Have it forward emails to
here, and vice versa? Or use some kind of Google Groups API?

Would be awesome if we could maximize exposure without having to give up
the excellent librelist.

Personally I can't stand the groups interface.

Also I see no reason for google to "own" this data.

If it ain't broke...

Believe it or not, I'm working on a service that will do exactly that :)

I'd love to know if there's another one though, it'd save me a lot of time.

If it is possible to forward the existing archives to the groups frontend
then it's fine. If it's not possible I say stick with this one considering
it's got all the stuff in one place. Librelist is minimal, it works :)

Instead of using groups, couldn't the features be added to
http://librelist.com/browser/flask/? A search and threading feature would
be a great start and *knock on wood* hopefully not too much effort.

I think that these archives already show messages by threads, with
replies organized in a tree. Or did 'threading' mean something else?

As to search, Google with inurl: works pretty well. A search box should
still be added.

My bad, I meant whatever its called when they are collapsed into a
nice continuous, possibly indented depending on replies, stream where I
don't have to click a million times to view the entire discussion.

I guess it would depend on how the librelist archives are integrated with
Google Groups.

It's not that accessible, for me it's easier to browser the topics in a
group or do a text search than browsing through the mailing list archive.
And the threaded view is way better than viewing all the mails. That's what
I think.

Hi,

It will be good when everything is available at one place! My opinion is
add a forum in flask website so that people can discuss there.

Thanks and Regards!

I think the messages here appear on librelist. But yeah, a forum, IMO,
would be better in terms of readability. Second on this.

I'd like to see a few more features within the librelist archive browser. I
have always had issues with Google Chrome, such as not updating the thread
when clicking the next thread ( a tap on F5 nicely updates the page
though).

I'd like to see a better thread browser, and possibly a better search,
though Google does a wonderful job via "site:
http://flask.pocoo.org/mailinglist/archive/".

The flask website (including the ML archives) is already a Flask app
hosted by Pocoo. Feel free to improve it and send a pull request:

I got to be honest from a strictly personal point of view I'd rather

For me, the best GUI for browsing Librelist is Gmail. I have filters
to filter messages out from my inbox, into a special label, and when I
have a few minutes of free time, I browse it with is:unread instead of
refreshing Facebook and Twitter. No need for Google Groups, in this
case I like the idea you own your stuff.
