Conference rooms giving some problems.

Conference rooms giving some problems.

Hi I'm Amador,

I've recently installed converse.js client to work with an openfire server.
After reading the documentation I did a quick startup to test things out,
everything went quite well, Registered users could login and even send
private messages to each others but the problem came with the rooms.

When a user decideded to create a room, he could enter just fine.
Monitoring the server admin panel I could see that the conference room was
created, and on the converse.js client when clicking the list room button
it was properly listed.

The problem was that when a second user wanted to join that room too, even
if the converse window was displayed, the users list was empty and couldn't
see any messages.
Checking the openfire admin panel again I could see that the room still had
1 user.

Any hints about this? is it a server conf problem? maybe I should change
something on the converse.js conf?

Thx for your attention.

Hi Amador

Chat rooms should work without any extra configuration options in converse.js.

Set debug=true when you call converse. initialize.

Then check the debug output in your browser console.

Also check your Openfire logs for any error messages.

I'm guessing your Openfire server is misconfigured.

Hi, yeah Openfire was missconfigured, apparently the function to join a
room comes in different versions where you can pass a String "username" as
parameters, or also additional parameters such as list previous
conversations of the room you want to Join or also a password etc.
I'm guessing when I had more functionalities up, the join function the
converse client was executing didn't match what the server expected and the
Join didn't happen. In the end I checked the options "list rooms in
directory" and "Allow users to register in the room" options, in case
anyone asks you again.

Thanks a lot for your help.
