"Media" keys?

"Media" keys?

Does the standard firmware support Media or any other special keys (such
as on a MBP). I know Phil doesn’t use a Mac, but I was wondering if anyone
else does. For example, there is a key that toggles “Mission Control”. I
have no idea if this is supported or not, I think it is if I do TMK, but
TMK is so much more complex I’m not sure it’s worth it.

Also, is there a way to treat the L2 function as momentary instead of a
toggle? So I could have a L1 key and an L2 key that acted the same? Again,
with the standard firmware instead of TMK.

Thanks,

You can take a look at `usb_keyboard.h` in the atreus-firmware repo, but
I don't think this is supported. TBH I am running TMK on both my primary
boards; I don't think the complexity is really much of a problem from a
user perspective; even if you are trying to add custom macro functions
or such it can be done without much confusion.

No, this requires TMK as well.

I believe Phil is making the move to TMK as a replacement for the
standard firmware. He has a fork of TMK with an atreus branch that
already implements momentary L2 switching. I use it daily. It's a little
weird because Fn+Shift is the momentary switch combo, but it sometimes
leaves me in Fn or Shift lock, and I have to tap them again to get out
of it. It does work though, and it beats having to switch to my laptop
keyboard to scroll through command history in Chrome's console.
