Key placement adjustments

Key placement adjustments

The Atreus layout looks great, but I'm considering a couple of tweaks to
key placements. I have larger than average hands, so these tweaks might
help me:

* Move the middle two columns up to reduce the stagger between the index
finger column and the inner index finger column.

* Move the middle two thumb buttons down.

These would make the three main thumb keys align a bit better.

So, does anyone have opinions on doing these tweaks or other key placement
adjustments? Relative to Phil's kit, it's a lot more work as I'd need to
hand wire it and source my own parts.

Phil, you need a donate option! If I go the do-it-all-myself route, it'd be
nice to have a way to reward you for your great design and willingness to
share everything.

Moving the middle thumb buttons down would be fine, but I'd advise
against reducing the stagger. I have large hands too (I'm 2m tall) and
the stretch to hit the top key on the middle columns is the biggest of
any on the whole keyboard.

Thanks! I do have an account on Gratipay[1]. I also work for an
organization called the Charis Project[2] if you'd rather make a
donation that's tax-deductible. This will not go to me personally, but
to the poverty-alleviation projects I work with[3] on the Thai-Burma
border.

cheers,
Phil
