Just to follow up on an old thread. In Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, 64bit) both
methods of getting the manual work fine.

Not that this helps very much, but on the old Shoes 2 running on Snow
Leopard,
$ /Applications/Shoes.app/Contents/MacOS/shoes -m
opens immediately. So if anything, it'd be a regression...

Hi Steve,
Yeah, Shoes 2 for Windows has never aborted both by `shoes -m` and via `Read
the Manual`. At least on my laptop.
But Shoes 2 can't open Japanese manual. ;-)

On OSX PPC I've never tried `shoes -m`, but opening via `Read the
Manual.` works fine.

Hi i5m,
Shoes for OSX PPC is cool!
The problem seems to happen on Windows only, doesn't it?
Anyone can confirm on Windows?

I'm very out of the loop on Windows. I need to find some time to get back
into it. The last build I did was 1287. The manual works fine from command
line and from within Shoes. This was built using WDK though (I haven't got
around to trying MinGW).

MinGW is a lot easier from my experiences. I'm actually quite impressed with
it.
