What kind of problems? I'm running mongrel2-1.7.5 on a 32-bit system
and haven't hit any problems so far.

This is the system that powers http://wsgid.com and http://daltonmatos.com

I've not run into any problems myself. We're just thinking of migrating
some of our servers away from AWS 64-bit instances to 32-bit.

Turns out, with 64-bit machines on AWS, there is no small instance
available for Ubuntu. The next stop after micro instances is large, which
run about $260/mo. Small, 32-bit instances are about 1/4 that much.
