lamson-challenged noob question

Hello all,

I'm new to email servers and programming in general, so please forgive the
basicness of this question: I'm reading the docs, and what I think they say
is that lamson *is *an email server, so postfix or others traditional mail
servers are not required in order to deploy a lamson project, although
lamson's API can integrate with these other servers if necessary. Am I
understanding that correctly? Many thanks for a cool project,

Thom Neale

Yes, you can run Lamson without anything else. I've done it, but it's
really not very fast for the bulk work of delivering and receiving, so
what I do is put it behind a Postfix server. I then configure the
Postfix to take all mail and put it in a Maildir. Then I can run Lamson
so it just reads out of the Maildir.
