Getting failing tests with a fresh Lamson project

Hi,
I've been investigating Lamson, and from what I've read in the docs it
seems very impressive and ideally suited to what I want to do.
However, when I tried to start playing with it I came across some
problems.
Having followed the instructions in the "30 second introduction" when
I ran nosetests, the first of the two tests failed. I also tried
checking out the Lamson source and running the tests, and I got quite
a few errors. Most were "connection refused".
I'm running this on a Mac with python2.6. I'm just trying it again
with python2.5, in case that's an issue. I've double checked that my
firewall is disabled and am now running out of things to try.
Any clues or hints will be greatly appreciated.
