If you want the best of both worlds, you could just make it so it  
drops those generic "subscribe in subject and/or body" messages and  
posts anything that seems like a real message. Alternately your could  
provide two confirmation "links", one that just subscribes and one  
that posts the initial message. Not sure how to do that in an easy to  
use way without involving a web browser, though. Maybe if the new user  
writes "post it" in the confirmation reply or something?
