For the project I'm working, I added some share buttons (Facebook and Twitter) when viewing data and maps. What do you think about? It might be interesting to add this function also to master? Ciao Luca -- Luca Casagrande twitter: lucacasagrande
Hi Luca, We have a set of branches that cover part of this functionality and much more here https://github.com/eldarion/geonode/branches ... the one that has Facebook Like and +1 buttons is here https://github.com/eldarion/geonode/tree/plusone-like ... you might consider pulling this, adding the share buttons and sending a pull request back to the Eldarion folks. The plan with these branches is to make these features optional in an a la carte way such that you can pick and chose which ones you need/want for your site when setting it up. We are not quite there yet, but you are welcome to pull these branches down and play around with them as there is a bunch of interesting functionality in them. Is the plan to keep them on branches until the optional / a la carte choosing is in place? It strikes me that it may be better to start to pull in social features to the core, for like a 1.2 release, and later work to make it easier to turn them off. I feel like most people likely either want those or at least wouldn't mind them. Though any one on this list should feel free to correct me on that. Jeff, what is the plan to get the functionality of that branch in to the core? Chris, Thanks for raising this issue. Im not exactly sure how we want to proceed on this front. The initial goal was to have the eldarion folks work on the a la carte (pinax starter projects) up front, but it came to be a blocker on deadlines we needed to meet, so we put it on the back burner. I will get an update from them to see where they are at on picking that stuff back up. Beyond that, I have no real preference on how these features could/should be brought in. Doing a 1.2 beta with all of them is certainly ok with me, but I think we should solicit feedback from the rest of the group before forging ahead on this. In either case, I would hope that we can have these features more widely available after the summit/code sprint in February. Im guessing the sprint will amount to the 'big merge'. Hi Jeffrey, thanks also for this! Just like Chris, I think that this feature would be useful if ported to master (or at least it will not disturb "standard" user). When and where is the code sprint? I hope not too far from Italy :) Ciao L. Il 04 gennaio 2012 17:36, Jeffrey Johnson <jjohnson@opengeo.org> ha scritto: > Chris, > > Thanks for raising this issue. I hope not too far from Italy :) Its in Boston, MA at Harvard University Feb 8-10 (general GeoNode summit the previous 2 days). You can certainly participate remotely, and if you would like to join us in person, I do believe we still have space. > Ciao > L. > > Il 04 gennaio 2012 17:36, Jeffrey Johnson <jjohnson@opengeo.org> ha scritto: >> Chris, >> >> Thanks for raising this issue.
