External WMS (Unauthorized)

External WMS (Unauthorized)

Hi list,

I integrated an external WMS into the geonode application
(geonode-1.1-beta2) and I figured out that in some cases geonode is
raising an error message (401 Unauthorized). I recognized that the
geonode application wants to send a PUT Request
(http://external_server/geoserver/rest/styles/) to the external
server, which of course isn't authenticated by the external server. Do
you know why geonode sends this request to the external WMS and how to
fix this problem?

Or is it already fixed in the rc1, but I read on the geonode website,
that changes to the way GeoServer is deployed mean thatĀ upgrading a
previously installed GeoNode is currently problematic. Before the
final release we will be providing an automatic solution to help with
this migration, but currently it is not advised to attempt upgrading
pre-existing GeoNode installations. So I want to avoid this if it is
possible.

Thanks in Advance

Patrick,

We are working to get this bug fixed with GeoNode 1.1 RC2.

The note about previously installed versions means earlier than 1.1
RC1, it does not apply to the transition from 1.1RC1 to 1.1RC2 or 1.1
final.

Will hopefully have more news soon about the login popup bug.

Thanks,
Ariel.

Hi Patrick,

the issue is now fixed on master, which means the fix will be in 1.1RC2.
Styling is now disabled for external WMS servers, so no PUT requests will
be sent to external servers. Also no PUT request will be sent for
anonymous users.

Andreas.

Thanks Andreas, it was great working side by side with you during the
conference!

Ariel.

PS: I will release tomorrow updated packages for GeoNode in my ubuntu ppa.
